Then why not go with Clemson vs. FSU?
Instead of playing the divisional rivalry in November (like this year), play it early in the season so the loser still has a chance to get back into contention for at least a New Year's Six bowl bid. This year's Clemson-FSU is the final conference game for both schools. Then both schools finish the regular season with 2 OOC games (1 game against a FCS school and 1 game against their SEC rival). I am not sure 2 weeks will be enough time for the loser of the game to climb back into New Year's Six contention.
Another concern I have about the game is VT won't get into Blacksburg until sometime between 3am-4am. Even if the W&M doesn't turn into another JMU, I could easily see it play out similar to the FSU-Jax State game the week after FSU played @ Miami on Labor Day Night. Jax State hung with FSU until the 4th Quarter when FSU scored a TD relative late in the game to make the final score 19-9.
