When talking about conference expansion with the ACC


you also have to go back to when FSU joined the conference. Possibly even prior to FSU joining the ACC when talking about Penn State. When Penn State and Temple were looking to form a 6 or 7 member all sports eastern conference, the ACC could be blamed for not seizing the opportunity to add Penn State especially when it appeared the plan wasn't going to come to fruition. Then the ACC decided to only add FSU, the ACC could be blamed for lacking SEC-like vision to expand to 12 members so it could hold a CCG. The bylaw was already there, but the ACC for a variety of reasons decided not to take advantage of it.

For the sake of discussion let's assume the ACC had similar vision as Roy Kramer and expanded to 14 members sometime in the 1980s. How would this ACC football conference be perceived compared to the current conference?

Atlantic/Coastal (protected cross-division pairings)
Pitt-Penn State
WVU-UMD
VT-UVA
Wake-Duke
NC State-UNC
Clemson-GT
FSU-Miami or Miami-FSU
