Though the board might like this pic of my Dad who just passed away last week just shy of his 97th birthday. He maintained his own apartment up until this past Fall.

During World War II, he served as a Technical Sergeant with the 101st Airborne Division as a signal operator communications specialist and military liaison. He saw action during the D-Day invasion of Normandy, the Battle of Carentan and Cherbourg, Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands, and the Battle of the Bulge at Bastogne.

Last year he was recognized by the French government with the Knight of the Legion of Honor Medal. At the ceremony, he mentioned two of his favorite memories:
- Getting an "epic" buzz on champagne found at Hitler's Eagle’s Nest at Berchtesgaden after the occupation of Bavaria and Finding and riding a German motorcycle a few days after Normandy. He was from Brooklyn so he thought riding around in the French country side was awesome.

He went to NYU but was the biggest Hokie fan. As a senior HR person for Texaco, he hired over 100 VT engineers and scientists over his tenure. He loved everything about VT and was proud that his Granddaughter will be a Freshman this Fall.
