It's almost certainly an app (or a few) that are burning through the data


I think you probably already know how to do this, but see the link below. You can check what apps are using data, and then just turn off the ones that you don't want/need to use data through the network.

My wife had problems a while ago with some apps using a ton of data, and I think it was some of the autoplaying videos on twitter and facebook that were the cause. You can turn off the autoplay for those as well (just google to see how).
