NBA was on it's knees 3 decades ago. There were questions about ...


... about how little the next contract would be about.

Then Magic and Bird happens. Magic to the LA Lakers, home of Hollywood and money and excitement. Bird to Boston, the most storied franchise in NBA history, old money, if you will.

Bird and Magic didn't disappoint. Lakers and or Celtics seemed to be in the finals all the time. There was also the individual duels between Bird and Magic that was carried over from the NCAA March Madness.

All of a sudden, the NBA was hot. And as those two stars were aging, we got Air Jordan.

The rest is history.
