B/B, W/W good. Assuming there's ground as well. Is it a three way switch?


Agree on using a voltmeter or, at the very least, pick up a non contact voltage tester, like the one linked below, to ensure you have power at the socket. If not, remove the light switch cover and test it there. You should be able to place the tester on the right side of the light switch up top with the light on and have power and at the bottom all the time.

The red wire is typically for lights in a ceiling fan configuration.
