I use a roller for decks, but I spray concrete (two colors)

I think it would be harder to maintain constant depth if using a semi-transparent stain. A solid stain may work OK though.

I sprayed a concrete patio with a light shade. It was so bright I put on a brown speckle layer with a sprayer. It was perfect. I was even able to darken the shading round the edges and near the fire pit. Think of a giant air-brush kit. The patio ifs shaped like two 25' circles that overlay each other on two levels. The stain was perfect.
