I got up and got ready for my Art History class that morning at VT.


I was in Payne Hall. Didn't turn on the tv or radio. Just got ready. Walked to Squires and passed people in line for A&W and Sbarros.

I don't recall there be any change in the air. people were acting normal. there were TVs in squires that i passed but didn't notice any people standing around them.

My first inkling that something wasn't right was when i sat down in class in Squires and it was less than half full. Class was about to start at 9 or so.

Instructor said "now i know we're all interested in what's going on out there, but we are going to go ahead and teach class."

This was probably 9:00am and nobody really came in after me. It was a 90 minute class.

When I got out of class, it was just hundreds of people standing around looking at the TVs in silence. I had no idea what was going on. I just saw smoke on tv.

From the point i went into class, the 2nd plane just crashed into tower. And both towers fell by the time i got out.

Once i figured out what was happening and that it had involved commercial airlines i rushed to a phone to call my dad (727 pilot at the time for Delta based in NY). All phone lines were busy. Tried over and over and over and finally got through to my mom and she told me what had happened, but dad was safe.
