HR /Headhunter Issue. Opinions please


Back in June I sent a resume to a blind add for a job. Then in mid August a headhunter calls me to talk about a production manager job. I went through 3 interviews with that company. The last person I spoke with was the HR person. She told me that she remembered my resume that I sent in to that blind add. So, when the headhunter calls me about the same job I had no idea it was the same one I had sent my resume to.

Anyway she tells me that since they got my resume in June they will not be paying the fee if I decide to take the job.

Needless to say the headhunter is unhappy. Does the headhunter of any recourse to come after me for the fee if I take the job?
