Wonder how that will translate to college/NFL viewership & interest

Very possible we're just seeing the less-athletic kids (and their parents) conclude that football isn't worth the risk.

Football (unlike tennis & baseball) doesn't necessarily require early years of training -- many college/NFL stars don't play organized football until high school.

As long as the athletic kids make their way to college/NFL rosters, does it really matter if overall participation is down?

Last 10-20 years, the female viewership of football has exploded, and it isn't as though those women were playing football since age 12.

I know NFL ratings have been down for 1-2 years, but:

1) They couldn't keep going up forever
2) Ratings are down for almost all sports & entertainment
3) There are several reasons for the ratings decline, other than participation %
