The owner would probably rather come down on the rent vs utilities. Keeping


the utilities in your name, keeps the responsibility on you to stay conservative & not set the AC at 68 in the summer with the windows open or run the water non stop.
A landlord also might be more willing to reduce rent if you’re willing to sign a longer lease and/or offer a bigger deposit along with a letter saying your confident in providing the bigger deposit because you will take good care of the property, offer to have your credit rating pulled (assuming you have good credit) & you know the deposit will be fully returned. Plus, stress that you can handle the little things like a leaking faucet or toilet. Let the landlord know you aren’t going to be a nuisance tenant.
