Are you doing official visits? i.e. they know you are there?

I'm assuming VT offices are closed on Sunday so you won't get an official tour.

Depending on what your daughter wants to do, I think it's a good idea to go to official open houses for that particular college. Going to the Engineering open house at VT made ME (finance/accountant) want to go back and be an engineer.

I'm pretty sure schools also keep records of campus visits and it might give a slight edge in admissions. "They must really want to go here, they visited 3 times."

Have fun! Both are great schools.
