Just got back from my college visit marathon weekend
JMU was Saturday. It was a bit confusing at first but got better as the day went on. All and all I would say it was good. We all got to see more of the campus than any of us had and got to see some good things about JMU. My daughter seemed to like it ok but I believe it will be a back up choice.
VT was today and I will go ahead and say it was really good. It was very well organized and informative. The weather held out. It was overcast and chilly and not rainy and cold. Which would have sucked. She got to see the campus more than she ever had. We are lunch in the dining hall and even showed her around Blacksburg a little. One of the coolest things they did was in the opening information session in Burress Hall they had the Marching Virginians pep band come out at the beginning and play the fight song and then a few more to get everyone pumped up.
I believe it went really well. I wouldn't say VT hit a home run but I would say maybe a stand up triple. I wasn't able to go on the uva visit when she went and she apparently liked it because I believe that was her #1 going into this weekend. But Iam pretty sure VT has her thinking now. She said coming home that she was a whole lot more impressed than she thought she was going to be (where have I gone wrong all these years?). She even asked if it would be possible to go back to visit uva again. My take on that is Tech kind of knocked her off of what she thought was her game plan and she wants to see if they can do any better. She was even working on her application essay when we got home.
Well I can't really say where she stands after today but I am pretty sure of two things. First, she is seeing Tech differently now and probably equally with uva. Second, she might not be ready to commit right now but after today I am ready to go back to school.
GO HOKIES!
