It took me 25 years before I realized it is perfectly ok to sell something that is doing great in order to buy something that currently sucks. After all, the strategy is 'buy low, sell high' and that is exactly what you are doing. The strategy of 'Buy at the bottom, Sell at the Top' will kill you every time! I have been selling stocks and buying bonds slowly since August and I am ok with it. I am still 70% in stocks and I have already locked in a lot of gains. I didn't get the top/bottom but you never will. I will probably sell some more next week.
