Thanks all. The consensus seems to be that I'm doing it wrong

I'm not going to change, but I'll acknowledge that I'm not doing it 'by the book'.

I have no idea if separating the capital letters is how I was taught or not, but it's certainly what I've been doing for a LONG time.

It only came up as I'm showing my daughter how to do our last name in cursive (not taught at our CT school, but used some at our current school).
