Totally agree re: the Laginas. I've said this before, but I am really...
....rooting for them because they do seem to be such genuinely good people. Their love for one another and desire to help each other chase a childhood dream is really inspiring, and the care and respect they have exhibited during their operations is really commendable. Unlike some previous searchers, they have approached their work with a respect for the local history, the environment, and their predecessors. I really hope all of this leads to a historic discovery. They deserve anything good that comes their way.
Regarding whether or not they are wasting their money, I guess it depends on how you look at it. From a purely financial viewpoint, they probably will never recover the money they have invested in their search, even if they find treasure. I imagine there will be all sorts of legal hurdles for them to actually claim any findings as their own. However, the Laginas don't seem to be hurting for money and are not spending money they can't afford to lose. So, I think if you look at their expenditures vs. the experiences that money has afforded them, and the opportunity to take part in a real life treasure hunt that each has dreamed about since they were young boys, then I don't think they have wasted a penny. Even if the Laginas never find anything of value on Oak Island, and they walk away empty handed, I think they will say that despite being disappointed, it has been worth the effort because they will no longer wonder what is there and wish they would have investigated.
