Because foreign airlines don't focus on safety nearly as much as US airline

That, and they can just blatantly discriminate.

They'll fire a flight attendant who actually knows what she's doing and hire someone who's just a pretty face that can deliver drinks. That's good for most flights, but when something happens? That pretty face won't be much help to you.
