What's the most $ thing you've ever saved up for? How long did it take?

And how did you do it?

I've decided over the last few weeks that there is a car I have to have and I am not going to go into debt to get it.

So what is the most expensive thing you ever had to save up for, how long did it take, and what was your secret?

So far my plan is to put up a picture of it and a little bar graph showing my progress. I expect it to take about 4 years if the car doesn't appreciate (big "if" there).

Motivate me. Tell me about the kick ass thing you bought by saving up for it.
