This is done a lot with the Virginia junior college/community college ....

system. Do 2 years and get your associates degree and you can get guaranteed acceptance into a number of Virginia public schools including William and Mary, VT, VCU, JMU, etc. Each school has their own required GPA for acceptance. My daughter did it for entrance into VCU. VT is 3.5 I think.
