Nope.they can actually subpoena records and we have to give them up.


Here the "morgue" is in the hospital which is right across the street. Usually only takes a few minutes. Anything requiring an official autopsy gets sent out.
For "in house" cases the ME just uses what is needed.
(Family ID-ing body, wallet/tats/Etc.) Where body is unrecognizable dental records is often the only/quickest way. I'm sure today there is DNA testing but that can take a while
