Dutch oven is stove top. It's a completely different kind of cooking than


slow cooking. I use the crock pot for set it/forget it meals. You often need to braise/brown meat prior to cooking it in the crock pot. We have a corned beef brisket in the crock pot now. I have to manage the cooking time based upon who can turn it on/who's going to be home when for weekday meals. This is a PITA. I'm sure there are new crock pots that have a delayed start feature.
