Their life insurance was about 3x the price of going through Select Quote.

I've had two homeowners claims with them, both for a water shutoff valve failing and dumping water through the house. USAA was great about getting ServPro out there for the initial cleanup and getting them paid, but after that, things turned into a slog.

They didn't have their own adjusters anywhere nearby (closest one in Richmond, I think), so they had to subcontract that work. No major issue there, but I feel like I may have missed out on the true USAA experience since I got the exact same adjuster I would have gotten with any other insurance company.

But when it came time to do the repair work, best I could tell, USAA didn't/wouldn't lift a finger. It was 100% up to me to locate a contractor, get estimates, schedule the work, and get them paid. USAA didn't drag their feet paying me for the claim, so money never really was an issue. It was just that I had to do ALL of the legwork to actually get anything fixed.

But I wonder if all that is basically a function of the fact that I live in the NRV, and they don't have any local adjusters or contractors that they can just send. If I lived in Richmond or NOVA, it might be a different story.
