The weights they wrestle are not normal

Almost everyone is cutting hard to be competitive at the most lean weight their body can handle - except heavyweights and a few guys who have learned that they personally wrestle better when they don't cut that low.

Two or three days after their season ends, if not sooner, most of them are 7-10 pounds higher - more for the heavier weight guys. (I've seen my son up 7-10 pounds the next day: obviously, that included water gain too.) And that weight gain just gets them back to a place where they are not hurting.

Add 10 more pounds just to take it easy a bit - and it is easier to lift and build muscle when you are not starving - and you see a gain of 17-20 lbs minimum.

These guys burn calories like Michael Phelps once they are back in the gym training. They can drop pounds per day just by reducing their food intake to normal human levels. Again, it's only those last 7-10 pounds that are hard for them to lose.
