The PAC-12 and Big XII, unlike the other 3 P5 conferences...

have no P5 university options without picking each other off (and it's fair to say the PAC will pick off the Big XII). But, the PAC is relatively isolated in geographic terms and needs some of the Big XII schools to join them if they want more P5 schools.

That said, the PAC may have little choice but to go after G5 schools like UNLV, SDSU, BYU (if they can get over the secular vs religious battle) and maybe even CSU. All four universities I mentioned are as solid as many existing P5 universities, but the perception would be that the PAC is watering down their product.

Now, this all assumes everyone has to go to 16. Not thing says the PAC has to expand at all unless the P5 starts making it a rule. Personally, I hope they don't because the PAC-12 seems OK at 12. I actually thought they had the best setup when they were at 10 until they felt the need to go to Utah and Colorado.
