We like Homestead Suites

because we always know what we’re getting, and there are separate rooms for sitting and for sleeping. That said, here’s what little I know:

(1) Sleeping: If you don’t mind the extra walking, ask for a room away from the elevator.

(2) Eating: If there are nights when you’re not with clients, it’s nice if there’s a decent restaurant or cafe downstairs. I’ll eat a mediocre meal rather than fight traffic in an unfamiliar city when I’m already tired.

(3) More eating: Sometimes all you want is room service while you zone out in front of the TV. It’s expensive compared to dragging oneself to a restaurant, but I assume your company will pay.

(4) Drinking: It’s really not a good idea to drink too much when you’re away from home—for all sorts of reasons. (I realize that some clients look forward to and expect heavy drinking—that it’s almost part of the deal-making—so what to do? We’ve found that some international clients especially make drinking a part of the dealing.)

(5) Flying: If you fly a lot, could you sign up for TSA Pre✓® or one of the other expedited check-in programs? You’d get through airport security checks faster. Check out the website below to read about several TSA programs available. Then go to this website to see how to apply and the cost:
http://www.immigrationvisatravel.com/us-trusted-traveler-programs/tsa-precheck/

(I couldn’t figure out how to link more than one website. Also, I see now that I didn’t post this after the original poster’s message, but I don’t know how to fix that, either!)

You probably know this stuff already, but as Mr. Goose always says, that’s 110% of what I know. It also gave me some practice with putting in a link—only half successful at that! ;)
