I remember traveling for work and talking to a couple other folks sitting down at the hotel breakfast area... you could tell they were all in town for the same reason but hard to tell for what. They were traveling as part of the US Quidditch League! As I'm sure many here haven't even touched a Harry Potter movie, Quidditch was a game played by the wizards in training while they were in school and involves flying broomsticks, a magic ball with wings and the rest is a bit like lacrosse. considering none of these real life folks could actually fly, it seemed completely ridiculous to me. but they were all part of a community that enjoyed being part of something and involved in an activity that created a common bond and reason for them to be together. naturally, they all had interests in science fiction/fantasy films and what not but they took something pretend and made it real. honestly not all that different than what we do with Hokie sports...
