Social media has allowed people to self identify their stupidity directly


in the past the old rule of "better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you an idiot than to open it and remove all doubt" has been replaced with the idea of posting every thought that flows through your head the instant it flows through.

I imagine that many of those that post every thought fell into the remove all doubt side in the past, and the distribution of that information was limited to their immediate circle of contact. Now that circle has broadened to include potentially anyone in the world.
