IMO, that is expected. Question is sales in 6 months or a year or 2 years
I think the Kap add is a sugar high people that support it will make a purchase to show their support. However, the lack of support is likely cyclical or seasonal. The question is if they add new customers and/or increase their gross revenue per customer versus how many customer they lost and the respective value of those sales.
IMO, if sales goes down versus their primary competition (UA and Adidas), then you have seen customer switch loyalties. (volume, not total $$ is key as Nike could raise prices to offset declining sales volume) Is that impactful or not we shall see.
Really interesting case study though regardless of your politics assuming you are interested in corporate strategies effect on sales. Also really interesting to see who, if any, benefit? Is that UA, other? I personally think it goes down and UA is the beneficiary.
Will be fun to watch.
