Wow that’s hard core. I like it


Everything I’m about to say is probably best to be taken with a drink since The longest I’ve lived in a single country overseas was 3 months. The rest of it was more temporary travel.

That said, a few obvious things to consider.
1. Does your family speak French well, just ok, or not really? Every country is different but I’ve always heard the French are very particular about their language.
2. Any US and foreign tax implications that could be good or bad for you?
3. Any special type of work permit or visa required for you to work over there?
4. Are all your passports good for a few years so that you won’t have any problem with travel?
5. Have a plan for coming back. Maybe talk to school in US to make sure your son can make a seamless transition from a curriculum perspective.
6. Make sure everyone know metric system and the value of the Euro so that everyday life and shopping are easy.
