The turning it on and off issue is a myth. You can have your two year old


play with the light switch all day every day until he retires and it won't do a thing to the LED. Solid state devices can be switched essentially infinitely. You do, however, need to have a bulb designed to be dimmed, and to use the correct dimmer for it. Assuming you have a dimmer and it was existing in the house that could be a problem.
