out coached. Cuse pressed us in the back court and Brooks had all 5 players in the back court instead of spreading the floor by having 2 or 3 in the front court. Not one in bounds pass was caught more than 8 - 10 from the base line, and many times the player who caught the ball was moving toward the base line. Then as she tried to bring the ball up court the other 4 players not playing her in the man to man were able to help, resulting in the turnovers. Not one time did we break someone long and throw the long pass into the front court. When we did manage to get the ball across we were double teamed as we crossed mid court line, again, resulting in a turnover. Cuse coach continued to press because we could not handle it and Brooks did nothing to combat the press. Brooks' strategy allowed all 5 Cuse players to prevent us from getting the ball up court because our players were close enough to all be holding hands.

I have not been one to criticize the coach's selection of on court players. Till now. His daughter is such a defensive liability she should only be on the court for very short periods to give a starter a rest. Her ability to shoot the 3 is not consistent enough to offset the defensive liability. Twice today she fired up a three and stood and watched a Cuse player get the rebound that came right back toward her. Had she followed her shot she could have easily had the rebound, but she drifted back toward the defensive end. I guess because she is so slow she needed a head start. I have liked her and kept my mouth shut but can see she is not improving.

But most of all, whatever Hokiepro said today was not near strong enough. Officiating in the womans game is worse than a recreation league game. I have seen better officiating in pickup game when players call their own foul. Cuse is not a good team but got significant help from the refs. I saw several illegal screens, I don't think any were called. They bumped and hacked us and rarely got called, resulting in the huge free throw discrepancy. In the final minute of OT Baptiste should have gone to the line for a 3 point opportunity, as Taylor should have as the clock ran out. Whit should contact the ACC office and ask with all the money being spent on WBB why can't they find some competent refs. I have attended all womans home games this year and it is a consistent complaint. Today I think those incompetent idiots just wanted to get the game over so they could go home, so no foul was called at the end.
