Scott was an executive..

with the WTA and ATP not the PGA. You are right on the long term perspective for PAC 12 members but, that is also the big question hanging over Scott and the PAC 12. Can they hang on in the present environment until 2024 when their rights and distribution agreements are up for new bidding and, just as important, what will the media distribution landscape look like then? You are correct about the challenges the PAC 12 faces as an independent in regards to leverage but, Scott and some members that share his vision believe 2024 could be a new day if the traditional media companies are challenged by the likes of Amazon, Google, etc. and the media distribution landscape significantly shifts. That still doesn't solve the geography problem. With the West Coast time difference they still have to balance reasonable times to schedule the competitions in western zones while getting in to prime time windows in East and Midwest. There is a certain portion of the viewing population that might stay up late for a PAC 12 tilt but, a far larger majority are content to get the results on the a.m. sportscenter. Scott is under increasing pressure in the media and from some members and he must fend off that pressure to get to 2024 to see if he can further implement his vision. If not, the PAC 12 could find themselves moving in a different direction with a new leader that does not share the same vision which could damage the investments they have already made.
