That article is a bunch of stuff thrown together..


The author doesn't really seem to spend a lot of time on the impact of School lockdown drills.
I read about how lockdowns effect kids, but this writer only cites one lockdown DRILL.which was clearly not well done.
The poopr child he talks about writing the letter was not a drill. The people making the call thought there was a legit threat.
The stories i have read tend to do the same. It says "lockdown drills" but many of the traumatizing events come from actual lockdowns due to threats.
I believe that we do need to have lockdown drills.but at least in my experience, they are always known by the teachers and are ALWAYS announced as a drill.
I do agree that if these are done the wrong way it can be terrifying for everyone. Not all teachers and administrators do a good job and make smart decisions on how to handle this. I think the nursery rhyme for lockdowns is insane.
I just think they need to be careful conflating practice drills with actual lockdowns in terms of childhood trauma.
