Best way / place to get life insurance?

all my banking and insurance is with USAA now, but their term life insurance rates seem higher than others. any recommendations ? Co-worker recommended Genworth, who he has had for years, but I don't know if they offer term life any more. Based on my age (47), I'm assuming I'll need an exam. No debilitating diseases, just less than ideal vices and exercise habits.
