Injuries have been a large part of the problem, at least this year and last
year. Kinder (who wasn’t a starter) did not play due to an early concussion in early season practice, Jean has been hurt all year and plays a very limited number of minutes now, Berry has a medical condition that precluded her from playing all season, K. Brooks now has a leg/hip injury (like last year) that has limited her minutes (though most folks, me included, believe she is not an ACC caliber player), and Camp has had injury issues too. Notwithstanding the Jones transfer (I think she was overrated as a recruit), we just don’t have enough talented players to field a well balanced team depth wise.
We have played some good games against good ACC teams but lost. Turnovers have been a real issue, particularly in ACC play. There have been some obvious coaching miscues too. I believe Brooks definitely has had to learn to coach in the ACC, and he has admitted it in some public and private discussions.
I think we are still a few years away from being a reasonably good ACC team. We will have some good player talent arriving next season, but replacing Magarity and Emery will be difficult.
