When I fractured vertebrae in my cervical spine in a ski accident


(secondary to ankylosing spondylitis) they screwed my head into a halo and because i was somewhat kyphosed they hung a weight off the back of my head to upright it a bit before stabilizing the halo. They could not sedate me because of the risk of vertebral artery stroke ( had to keep checking my vitals and responsiveness) so I literally lay there all night watching the clock go round. Longest most miserable night of my life! I survived.
