I thought it was because


When Thanos attacked the HQ, it actually saved the people by falling down into the sub levels. So by falling they avoided the direct blasts and were able to avoid a lot of the debris. And Hulk saved them from what did fall.

But I've only seen it once and my memory sucks so I could be wrong.
