Pre-WNBA there was another women's pro basketball league

they had attendance figures that were even worse than the WNBA, and they had a structured pay rate that was pretty low. The players went on strike claiming they deserved to be paid closer to their male counterparts.

League folded a week later.

Bottom line, owners will not pay more than they can make.

WNBA only exists because it is subsidized by the NBA and is only on TV because it is part of the NBA contract.

Same is true with the women's soccer team. If they can generate more revenue than the men, they should be paid more. If not, they shouldn't. How much they win, etc has nothing to do with it.
