The Star Wars comparison is interesting... for me

It would be Anakin becoming Darth Vader if Anakin played the role of Luke for 99% of the films and then slaughtered the younglings and nuked a planet in the last 30 minutes or so. It's tough because everyone knew Anakin would eventually become Vader but the argument could be made that the Star Wars prequels did a better job of showing Anakin's descent (which was still pretty abrupt) than GoT did with Dany... let that sink in.
