I told my millenial daughter the same thing. But I also told her to think
about her field of study as having to be able to pay off her debt. When she said she wanted a B.A. in History, I told it would be imperative that she do what needed to be done to meet the qualifications to become a teacher. She agreed, and so she studied history. She was going to be a teacher.
She finishes her degree, and forgets all about the becoming a teacher part. If she had, she would be earning nearly double what she earns today and wouldn't have most of the problems she complains about. That's on her. Especially when you consider I paid for about half of her education and she took on about $30,000 in debt for the other half. I did my part. I did more than my part. She's responsible for her present condition all on her own.
