When it comes to working on your bike, I highly recommend you buy this:

This should be the first book you invest in, and buy others if needed. One great thing about this one is that it tells you the (Park) tools required for each job. For example, there are a bunch of different bottom bracket designs that have been developed since the early 90s, and each one seems to have a different tool. This book will tell you exactly what tool works with that particular piece of hardware.

It will save you a lot of time.
