I have heard the book is more "out there" than the series


When I first started watching the Handmaid's Tail, which was maybe a year or two after it was released, it reminded me of "1984" by Orwell. Then as I started watching more of the first season, I saw similarities to post-WWI Germany when the Nazis rose to power and even the role of slavery in this country.

The more I watched the more I got into the series. Mainly because I wanted to see where they took the various storylines and how they developed the characters. One thing that fascinated me about the series is trying to learn how and why society get to that point that morality is warped beyond recognition. Also, it is fascinating to watch strong women behave and even react to their new "roles" in this perverted society.
