What's this?

It is within $50 of what I estimated the parts cost. So I would call it


a fair price and a capable machine. However, it looks like a set of parts selected by a marketing team. I don't think it's money well spent.

1) The CPU. Why? The difference between the 9900K and the 9700K is $130; the added value to a gamer who couldn't care less about 8 threads vs 16 threads? Is really, really small. Versus the $260 less 6 threaded i5-9600K? 9%. Wasted money in my opinion.
2) The SSD. WD Green? They are putting in a wimpy, underperforming WD Green in next to a 9900K. They are guessing that most buyers will overlook that. You can put in a Samsung Evo of the same capacity for just $30 more and get a much, much better SSD.
3) The GPU. It's a fine GPU, but next to that CPU it's kind of silly. That's less important than the first two though.

Honestly, it looks like they picked a price point and a CPU then filled in the rest with whatever fit the budget rather than optimizing all of the parts in the price point. It's just not a very good balance to me.
