Yes, hoping for wealthy people to be generous in a completely uncoordinated

manner according to their individual whims is so much better for society than having elected representatives in a representative democracy collectively decide what social programs are worth funding.

When onceremoved and I retire to France full-time in 2021, I’ll miss living in a country where people desperately hope for help from Gofundme pages to stave off financial ruin from health issues and instead receive universal health care that is rated the best in the world. My neighbors may enjoy not having to worry about complete financial ruin from medical conditions, but they will never enjoy the pretense of rugged individualism we Americans pride ourselves on.
