Some of you are not going to agree with me here..... I think the NC and CK were very good litmus for some of these guys where they wrestle multiple matches per day. Overall I think the team is so far exceeding my expectations for the season....slightly. If I was forced to project at this point (lots of matches left), I would say 7 qualifiers and 2 AA.

125#: Prata has not had that breakthrough "aha" moment like some wrestlers, but he has made incremental improvements that has defied logic and kept him ahead of the curve all the way. He must have a huge heart to overcome some of the challenges that he has faced. CK was a very good run for him and he had some good quality wins that we needed and wanted to see from him. I was only slightly disappointed in the last match...because I thought this is one he could have pulled out to really make a statement. His trend continues upward and with 3 months to go, he may really be fun to watch in NCAA.

133#: Some flashes of greatness and then some head scratchers. Ceiling is high, just needs more experience to avoid the big plays. Hoping to see a breakthrough moment followed by a really big win vs Phillippi. Really not sure what this will look like in March.

141#: Mitch reminds me of Mike Tyson. If you are not strong he will crush you quickly. He does not have any real signature wins though, and if anything, his record suggests a ceiling somewhere around #20-#25. The loss to Tariq was baffling....don't tie up and win. He did and it looked like Tariq threw him to his back twice...out of bounds saved him the first time. I stand by my opinion that he needs to move beyond using the upper body ties to set up moves and to stay out of trouble with superior opponents.

149#: I really do not know what to say here -- some good stuff just not what everyone was expecting so far. Not the same guy from 2 years ago -- at least not the jump or surprise we were hoping for so far this year. NC was a good result, but did not look great getting there. Many times looks low energy and listless.

157#: Wrestles with his heart on his sleeve and with lots of emotion. Take your eye away for a second and you are likely to miss something big either way. I am really bummed he couldn't go at CK. because he needs more tournament style matches. A little worried about stamina for multi-match per day tournaments as NC seemed to suggest. Will be interesting to see how the ACC goes leading into the NCAAs.

165#: We know what we have here. Would have loved to see how well he could have done at CK and would have liked to see a rematch with Ethan Smith. But better to stay healthy and I have no doubt he will bring it moving forward and at NCAAs.

174#: A great feel good story and what a great win at OSU as a senior. Starts most matches strong but loses separation later in matches.

184#: Wow, there is a train coming to town and it is called Bolen. He has such great composure and is quietly racking up the quality wins. He has what seems like an endless tank and stamina. He is a joy to watch creating lots of attacks and scrambles. His defense has improved greatly. IMO his ceiling at NCAAs is high and I think he even has a chance to make the finals if he keeps this up.

197#: The right guy is starting for sure. High motor and willing to take a lot of risks, which is a good thing. Similar to 133# just needs more experience and the quality if wins will go up.

225#: See 125# -- always incrementally trending upward. Some difficulty with the much bigger and heavier guys, but just needs to bring a bigger axe to chop them down with. Going to be interesting to see how this one ends up in the NCAAs.
