Yes, I mentioned that above.

You can get "smart" or "dumb" trainers that you attach your real bike to.
With dumb trainers, you have to adjust the resistance manually. You'll basically just spin your wheels with limited feedback from your own bike computer (speedometer), etc.

With smart trainers, you have the ability to vary the resistance real time, and you can subscribe to various services to ride virtually with and against others. You can ride artificial courses, or actual courses that someone has mapped (one of the services has mapped the national championship course in Richmond from a few years ago, and other famous courses like Alpe d'Huez). Smart trainers start at around $500. If you want to subscribe to a service, they probably are around $10/month.
