Agreed on Swimming

The biggest obstacle to cutting swimming would be the long-term contract of Lopez, but that is a drop in the bucket compared to the scholarship costs.

I doubt any sports will be cut at VT, unless a fellow ACC peer makes a move first. If another conference school resorts to it, let alone a few, I would be shocked to see it then. The overall perception of our Athletic Department takes a hit if you cut a sport. That’s really the only thing that keeps many men’s Olympic sports from being cut at this point.

To be honest, simple economics lead one to believe that Non-revenue sports are well on their way to dying in The sense they exist now in the NCAA.

The sheer size of NCAA athletic departments, and just higher education in general, has grown way too large, and that bubble will burst at some point
