Splicing the cord back together

I cut the cord about 2 years ago. I remember doing it and deciding that any cost savings would be short lived, and I was right. What I didn't expect was the service differential to be so big.

In the end it came down to the the fact that no matter what service you use, you are paying the same and cable companies provide all of the channels for the same price or more than the streaming services who have gaps in their lineup based on which content owners owns the streaming service.

Then there is the reliability and interface. User experience in streaming is not as good, lack of a back feature, the time to switch channels, etc just isn't there. Challenges during the lockdowns have just made it worse.

It is a good thing that streaming exists because it is breaking up the cable monopoly, but in the end, the content owners drive the price and if you want the content you are going to pay the same. I'll still subscribe to services for premium content, but for basic channels, going back to cable.
