Until I personally see something unexplainable and concrete, I think most

of the sightings are based on natural phenenoma that are rarely observed, or physical artifacts that are specific to a time and place or viewing angle. For instance of the latter, people observing or recording video through windows, or lenses, which have reflections, or flares, or distortion.

One example an an unexplained thing that I experienced with my dad.... We were driving through South Dakota early one morning. Temperatures were sub freezing and frost covered everything. Only my dad and I were up in the front seats. I was driving. The sun was just rising and as I crested a hill into a valley, a shimmering apperition appeared in the distance, like a disturbance in the sky that moved quickly from left to right, at the distant ridge line. We stopped talking and immediatly asked each other if we both saw the same thing. It was erie. Fascinating, and something I had never seen. We figured it had something to do with the sunrise, but it could have easily been observed to be a fast ship with a distorting wake in it's path.

It wasn't until years later that I observed similar conditions in Indiana, and though the circumstances werent the same, the refraction of light I observed off icecrystals in the distance was enough for me to understnad how that South dakota observation originated. It was a natural phenomomn of light reflecting off ice-crystals on the horizon, and refracting through dense air across the valley as the sunrise light swept across us from the distance. Right time, right conditions, and two observers of the same thing... I think lots of sightings can be attibuted to circumstances like this.
