I would say if you really love Texas, hill country would be great place

It's actually pretty unlike most of Texas, and you have relatively easy access to both Austin and San Antonio.

However I do have friends that commute from Austin to SA and it's only about an hour, so in the grand scheme of Texas the two are very close.
